QUOTATION

Estimated calculation of the detailed cost of the mould (steel, injection and extraction system, surface finish, time and cost of manufacturing, logistics, tests, among other characteristics) based on the long experience in the manufacturing of moulds.

PRELIMINARY STUDY

Once the mould is received, the study and drawing start, primary, in order to define and validate all the technology to be used in the mould. The study shows, for this purpose, the main features of the mould such as: mould dimensions, injection and extraction system and its operating points in the mould, cooling circuit and mould mechanics.
After the draft´s approval by the customer, the steel is ordered and the 3D mould design starts.

PLANNING AND COMMUNICATION

One of the most important stages, across the entire project, is planning, which will be perchance GECO's commitment to the customer. A careful and detailed planning of the various stages of production of the mould allows us to meet the dates required by the customer, with quality and organization.
The communication with the client and the carrying out of the planning are the project leader responsibility.
We are always within reach of our customers (email, fax, ISDN, video conferencing, telephone, etc.).
The flexibility of our administrative capabilities allows us to establish, rapidly at any time, the exact stage of production, minimizing errors without loss of time.

CAD / CAM ENGINEERING

Our CAD / CAM department provides  68 jobs at constant updating and training, allowing us to follow-up technology  and  effectively address complex and diverse projects. Pro-Engineer licenses are available; Cimatron, Unigraphics and Catia CAD and WorkNC, DepoCam and Lemoine.

STEEL REQUIREMENTS

GECO always requires, for all its projects, high quality steels with quality and warranty certificates as well as for all materials and components used in the project.

MILLING

High-precision machines are necessary to ensure the quality and rapidity of the moulds manufacturing. We are aware that the quality of the mould determines the quality of the product of our client

ELECTRODE MACHINING

High-speed machines with multi tool change facilities, coupled with magazine mounting for electrodes, ensure  a 24h continuous production, with dedicated engineers and designers to support this activity.

ELECTROEROSION AND WIRE EROSION

In order to achieve more complex moulds, GECO has a department of electroerosion and wire erosion.

POLISHING

GECO has a polishing service to ensure a final finish of all the moulds.

ADJUSTMENT AND ASSEMBLY

The vast experience of our employees and teamwork allow us to manufacture moulds of high complexity and technology, up to 45 ton.

INJECTION VALIDATION

All mould tests are performed and supervised by GECO using the correct materials and suitable injection moulding machines of 65 tons up to 3500 tons, with the possibility of injecting two or more materials, GIT or MuCell, and with the possibility of using gripper systems in the main injection machines.

QUALITY CONTROL

To ensure the quality of our work, the dimensional control of the mould is systematically done along the main steps, throughout its production. The samples are checked dimensionally using CMMs equipments.
In order to speed up the approval with an immediate inspection, GECO has the following equipments:

  • 3D measurement processing
  • 2D Measurement
  • Profile Projector
  • Laser Scanning

FINAL INSPECTION AND SHIPPING

GECO has a specialized and exclusively dedicated department to the inspection and preparation of the moulds for the shipment, which is carried out after the mould approval by the customer. With the mould also follows the MANUAL for the mould which comprises:

  • Identification of the mould
  • Boarding specifications
  • Photos of the mould
  • 2D Mould drawings (CD-ROM)
  • Boarding checklist
  • Last test report
  • Approved dimensional report
  • Steel certifications
  • Steel treatment specifications test report
  • Mould drawings (paper)
  • Cooling circuits diagram
  • Hot-Runner information (if applied)
  • Mould maintenance plan
